DAVID B. RIVER , a partner in River & Cadiz Mediation Services, LLC, has been a family mediator for over 12 years. He helps families negotiate difficult decisions including long-term care and estate planning and division. Mediation can be used to prevent disputes, or at any time before or during legal action as a low-cost and low-stress alternative that helps maintain family relationships. David is the only nationally certified family mediator in the state of New Mexico (ACR).

Prior to forming River & Cadiz Mediation Services in Santa Fe, David was a mediator at Diane Neumann & Associates in Boston, Massachusetts - one of the largest and most well known mediation firms in the country - and a partner in JustPeace Systems Design, which provided consultation and training for non-profit organizations and school systems including the Chicago Public Schools. In addition, David has provided facilitation and mediation services for the Environmental Protection Agency, various businesses and non-profit agencies, personnel and students in the Santa Fe Public School System, New Mexico State Agencies, and several Native American communities. Previously, he directed a court-connected mediation program with the New Mexico Center for Dispute Resolution (NMCDR) and was the Assistant Director of a statewide conflict resolution education program.

Currently, David is an Executive Board Member of the New Mexico Mediation Association (NMMA) and is in charge of developing the first ever statewide mediator certification program for mediators in New Mexico . David also serves as a board member of the Santa Fe Rape Crisis and Trauma Treatment Center and is a member of the national Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).
